Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) now has a laboratory that performs tests for COVID-19, with results in up to four hours. CR Diagnósticos unit at GRU Airport performs the RT-PCR exam, recognized by the WHO gold standard. The space is located in Terminal 3, from where virtually all international flights depart from the airport, as the test is convenient for passengers traveling to countries that require certification.

Through the website of the laboratory dedicated to the coronavirus, it is possible to schedule the exam. According to the CR Group, the RT-PCR test is performed on material collected from the throat and nose (in hospital environments, lung secretion can be used, which increases the assertiveness of the test), and through molecular biology techniques, detects the genetic material of the virus in the patient sample. The test is recommended for the diagnosis of COVID-19 for people with symptoms and can detect the presence of the virus on average until the 12th day of symptoms.
